‘Notes of Lectures given at the London University by Professor Donaldson, session 1858-59, Architecture as a fine Art’, notebook including extensive manuscript notes, printed material tipped in, sketches and pasted in drawings of monuments and archaeological sites, some folding and hand-coloured, contemporary calf, rubbed, mid. 19th century.

*** Thomas Leverton Donaldson was a British architect, notable as a pioneer in architectural education, as a co-founder and President of the Royal Institute of British Architects and a winner of the RIBA Royal Gold Medal. He pioneered the academic study of architecture and in 1841 became the first Professor of Architecture at University College London.
