A large late 20th century Thai Royal presentation silver, niello, gold and enamel photograph frame, Bangkok circa 1987 by Thai Nakon
Of rectangular form with a pointed pediment, the sides with nielloed foliate scrolls, the pediment with a chased gold and opaque white enamel applied cypher and crown of King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great (1927-2016). Glazed with a wooden easel back. Fitted with a photograph of the king and queen, with autopen signatures dated 1987. The reverse of frame stamped Sterling and Thailand.
Height – 40 cm / 15.75 inches
This was the format of presentation frame presented to dignitaries by the Royal family, President John F Kennedy was presented by a very similar frame in 1963.
