A Electrophone Table c.1900

A Electrophone Table c.1900

An antique Electrophone table early telephone system set with two original handsets

The Electrophone was a distribution audio system that operated in the UK, primarily in London, between 1895 and 1925. The system relayed live theatre and music hall shows and, on Sundays, live sermons from churches. This was a subscription service and users would ask the operator to connect them to Electrophone, who in turn would connect them to the theatre.
