An Alexander III Russian 84 zolotnik (875 standard) silver gilt and niello tea glass holder, Moscow 1883 by Vasily Semyonov (est. 1852)
Of waisted circular form upon a circular foot with beaded rims, an angular handle with ball thumbpiece. The body with a nielloed circular cartouche of the Kremlin behind the Kremlin Red wall to one side and St. Basil's Cathedral to the other, against a nielloed background of dense foliate scrolls, with two vacant gilt circular cartouches. Fully marked underneath for assayer Semyon Shebanov (active 1883).
