Gish (Lillian)

Gish (Lillian)

Typed letter signed ('Lillian Gish') to Eve Johnson, reading "What a delightful surprise to hear from you after such a long, long time. My, we do back a bit, don't we? John I hear from all the time; Burgess when he is in New York and Judith occasionally. She supposedly is not too well, I've heard on the news but hope she is better. Ann S. was a life saver in Maine. She is so amusing and keeps her spirits so high. It was long, isolated film to make and we needed all the laughter we could get. How sorry I am that your marriage to Van didn't work out. We've travelled together on the ships and of course been on those celebrity shows for Alec Cohen and countless parties at Milton Goldman's and have just adored him. I wish it had been happier for you", one page, light yellowing, minor staining, 8vo, 5 September 1991. With original mailing envelope. Also included are a Christmas note from Gish to Evie and Schulyer, with original mailing envelope (4)

***The lot comes with a letter of provenance from Schuyler Johnson, daughter of Eve and Van Johnson and niece of Sheridan Abbott Kimmel.

Estimated at £100 - £150
