An early 19th century Ottoman Turkish silver water cup, probably with the Tughra of Mustafa IV (1807-8) or Mahmud II (1808-39)

An early 19th century Ottoman Turkish silver water cup, probably with the Tughra of Mustafa IV (1807-8) or Mahmud II (1808-39)

Of inverted baluster circular form with a moulded rim, a wrought double C scroll handle. Engraved decoration of a wriggle work border near rim. The interior with tughra mark only, partially obscured.

Length – 16 cm / 6.2 inches

Weight – 266 grams / 8.55 ozt

The sah mark found on later Ottoman silver was introduced in 1844.
