A JOINED TIE-DYED SILK HANGING
Uzbekistan, late 19th century

The joined long panels of burgundy plain-weave silk tie-dyed to reveal two rows of bright yellow ‘eyes’ along the hem, the outer panels with concentric ‘target’ motifs in the corners and ‘eyes’ along the vertical edges, the centre with four indistinct areas of tie-dye, loom width 40cm, overall 192cm x 200cm.

Provenance: Christie's South Kensington, 8 October 2010, part of lot 275.
