FOUR PHOTOGRAPHS ALBUMS COVERING THE MILITARY CAREER OF CAPTAIN BERNARD ST. JOHN WARREN HASTINGS (1890 -1910) Many images containing the King's Liverpool Regiment and Hastings as an instructor at the Royal Military College Sandhurst. Most photographs are identified with soldiers names and places handwritten by Captain Hastings. While posted in Ireland he was master of the "King's Regiment" of Otter Hounds. Many good Irish topographical images including an oblong folio album by noted photographer William Mervyn Lawrence, image sizes approx 160mm x 110mm, albumen prints, (32). Also photos of from Captain Hasting's travels in England and Europe. A keen Freemason, there are also large group photos of two lodges. (4) albums in total, a mixture of albumen, fresson and silver gelatin prints, approx 400, largest approx (290mm x 250mm) smallest, approx 100mm x 80mm Born in Stoke Damerel, Devon 1872 Hastings served in the military with the King's Liverpool Regiment 1893 2nd Lieutenant, 1896 Lieutenant, 1899 Captain and Adjutant. In 1903 he was seconded for service on the staff of the Royal Military College Sandhurst, as officer of a company of gentlemen cadets. He retired from the King's Liverpool Regiment in 1908 and rejoined the military during World War One. In 1918 he was granted the hon. rank of Lt-Col. He died in Tenby in 1940.
