A large mid-20th century Cambodian silver tray, circa 1960
Of shaped circular form with a scalloped rim, the broad edge with chased decoration of foliate scrolls interspersed with acacia flowers and masks. The otherwise plain field centred with a flat chased circular band of similar decoration. Raised on four hemispherical feet. The underside stamped T900, PAONG and a crown.

Weight – 1290 grams / 41.47 ozt
This mark for presumable a retailer or maker is found upon typical mid-20th century Cambodian animal boxes, such as a lion dog example incorrectly described as late 19th century, sold Bonham’s Edinburgh, 25 March 2015, lot 106 (part).
This tray is likely to have been for use with a cocktail shaker and matching cups, something also produced by Cambodian silversmiths at this time, such as the example sold these rooms, 19 Oct 2022, lot 391 (£1,062 incl. prem).
