An early 20th century Burmese unmarked silver bowl and cover, probably Mandalay circa 1920
Of circular bombe form, the domed pull off cover surmounted by a detachable peacock finial. The body with eight vignettes with embossed animals; a rat, an elephant, a bear, a rooster, a tiger, a Chinthe, another elephant and a serpent. Each reserved with chased ‘wallpaper’ background and interspaced with deep chased foliate scrolls and rosettes, all between rolled rims. The lid with C scrolls cartouches infilled with various birds perched on branches.
