A LARGE COLLECTION OF WEMYSS WARE, 20TH CENTURY, to include a large tyg, decorated in the 'Black Cockerel' pattern, with stamped mark for T. Goode & Co. to base, a twin handled vase, raised on a spreading circular foot, decorated in the 'Cabbage Rose' pattern, with a scalloped green border, together with a large mug, a small jug, a large plate, a small plate, and a cylindrical vase, all also decorated in the 'Cabbage Rose' pattern, in addition to a large Wemyss ware jar, 20th century, decorated with plums, with a scalloped green border, with a painted mark for Wemyss, T. Goode & Co. to base, a waisted specimen vase with four handles, decorated with cherries, stamped 'Wemyss' to base, a small Wemyss sugar pot and cover, decorated with oranges, with a scalloped green border, with painted mark for Wemyss to base, and a candlestick, decorated with thistles, with impressed mark to base (11)
Provenance: The following pieces are part of the collection of Iris Fox (1913-1992), one of the principal collectors of Wemyss Ware. After her death in 1992, part of the collection was donated to the Newport Museum, whilst the remaining items were auctioned at Sotheby’s Edinburgh, in the single owner sale ‘The Iris Fox Collection’, 7-8th November 1994.
