A Victorian sterling silver mounted tortoiseshell time piece or carriage clock, London 1896 by J Batson and Son
Of rectangular form with a central opposable carrying handle, raised on four moulded bun feet. The corners with openwork pierced and cast foliate scroll mounts, the top of lid applied with a crest of a lion’s head erased pierced with a spear. The silvered dial with Arabic numerals, with PEARCE BRIGHTON. Eight-day single train movement with horizontal balance wheel escapement. Marked to the mounts. Movement back plate stamped MADE IN FRANCE.
