A late 19th century Anglo – Indian unmarked silver tea tray, Kashmir circa 1880
Raj period, of waisted form raised upon four ball feet. Four handles formed as twin coiled serpents. The field with chased shawl pattern.
Length – 54.2 cm / 21.25 inches
Weight – 1699 grams / 54.62 ozt
The form of this tray, while is unlike what one would find in English silver, would have been used with a kang shaped three-piece tea service. These services were highly popular in Kashmir with the Anglo families at the end of the 19th century.
