A VERY LARGE COLLECTION OF CHINESE PORCELAIN.

Ming Dynasty, and later.

Comprising: a Ming meiping vase, a famille rose food box, a pair of turquoise lion joss stick holders and a group of dishes, bowls, cups and covers, including part sets. (90)

Provenance: from the collection of Sheila Rosevear Urquhart (1908 – 1992), thence by descent to the present owner. The memoires are published as Sheila Unrquhart,2009, Sons of Heaven and document her time in China from her birth until she moved to Burma with her husband in 1932. They also include her own drawings based the Chinese art collection she amassed and are a touching portrait of an upbringing immersed in Chinese culture in the early 20th Century.
