An early Victorian sterling silver vinaigrette, Birmingham 1840 by Nathaniel Mills
Of shaped rectangular form with a hinged lid raised by a simple thumbpiece. Engraved throughout with foliate scrolls against a striated ground, the front with an asymmetrical vacant C scroll cartouche. The gilt interior with a hinged pierced and engraved grill of foliate scrolls and rosettes. Fully marked, the grill with maker’s mark and duty mark only.
