AN IVORY-HILTED HUNTING KNIFE  Tamil Nadu, Southern India, late 19th century  With a flat double-edged watered damascus steel blade, the ivory handle carved in the shape of a fearful mythical creature, the design reminiscent of Indonesian Kris dagger handles, engraved lush palmettes on the forte, the blade marked Arnachellum Salem, the light-brown leather scabbard tooled with lush stylised vegetal tendrils, 44.8cm including the scabbard.
