AN EXTREMELY FINE PART SILK QUM CARPET, CENTRAL PERSIA
1950 c.

The ivory field with overall angular floral lattice containing various small floral motifs. In light blue border of somilar design between similar ivory stripes. Outer plain stripe, approx: 10ft.8in. x 6ft.11in.(324cm. x 211cm.) Beautiful quality and rather unusual design for this type. The pileis full with very soft and lustrous kurk wool. Ends with short fringes, secured. Selvages rebound, well done. This carpet has very light discolouration in few places, visible on closer inspection. Extremely fine weave, approx: 10 x 10 knots per sq. cm; woven on silk foundation. In general this carpet is in very good usable condition. Very elegant and great furnishing piece.
