A LATE 19TH CENTURY DUTCH SILVER BOX OR CASKET, SCHOONHOVEN 1898
Of shaped rectangular bombe form upon four splayed shell feet. The hinged lid with a push button release and an opposable cast handle formed as classical dolphins. Embossed decoration of traditional village scenes, as well as hunting to the sides and cows to the underside. Marked with Dutch assay marks, later to foot, also with pseudo marks of MC, lion passant, fern. Sterling import marks for London 1900 by Isaac Manheim.
