A mid-19th century Anglo - Indian unmarked silver mounted coconut cup, Cutch circa 1860
Raj period. The upper mount with embossed decoration of pursuant animals, including a tiger, antelope, hound, a European on horseback spearing a lion, a stag and another European figure on horseback, all reserved with foliate scroll and rosettes above a rosette border. The lower mount with a border of birds reserved with foliate scrolls and rosettes, between rosette borders and stylised acanthus leaf borders. The wooden foot with a carved and beaded edge of acanthus leaves, also mounted with cut pierced border of rosettes heightened with flat chasing, the stem with applied quatrefoils and arrow forms with cooper head nails.
