An Unknown Ensign Commando Variant, Posibly a Prototype?

An Unknown Ensign Commando Variant. Fully working, the camera appears to have Ensign Commando internals but without the usual coupled rangefinder top plate. The moving film plane is controlled via a knurled, top mounted knob with rudimentary markings, not actual distances. A basic Ensign type straight-through sports finder is mounted in the middle of the top plate and an unusual flat shutter release is operates the shutter by horizontal movement, not by pressing down like a conventional button. The subject of much discussion in the camera collecting world, this unique camera is thought to be too complicated for an amateur conversion and may be an aborted exercise to produce a "budget" version of the Commando. A real conversation piece!

Estimated at £100 - £150
