A cased late 19th / early 20th Anglo - Indian silver bachelor teapot, Madras circa 1900 by Peter Orr and Sons
Of rounded form with a tapering spout modelled as bamboo, the wishbone shape handle also modelled as bamboo fitted with ivory insulators. The hinged lid surmounted by a detachable gourd finial. The body and lid with chased and embossed decoration in rosette pattern, a shield shape cartouche to each side engraved with a crest of an etoile of six points, above the motto sic Itur ad astra. Marked underneath with P.ORR & SONS, MADRAS. Housed in a fitted teak case, branded P.ORR & SONS, MANUFACTURERS MADRAS.
