LAWRENCE OF ARABIA LITERATURE – AUTOGRAPH –T E LAWRENCE ‘LAWRENCE OF ARABIA’ his retained carbon copy of his famous letter to Sir Edward Marsh dated March 1931,with his autograph pencilled notes on vehicle maintenance written on the back of one of the pages. In the letter, Lawrence pleads for Bertram Thomas to be made a Knight and comments that Thomas has just crossed that ‘great desert of southern Arabia. It remained the only known corner of the world and it is the end of the history of exploration. Thomas did it by camel at his own expense. Every explorer for generations has dreamed of it. The difficulty can best be put by my saying that no Arab, so far as we know, has ever crossed it...’ 2pp 4to.
