AN EARLY 18TH CENTURY LONGCASE CLOCK MOVEMENT AND DIAL HOUSED IN A 19TH CENTURY CASE, the Dutch oak case with pierced fretwork with acanthus leaves to the hood, the trunk with canted front angles and moulded shaped door with lenticle, with a plinth base carved with a foliate roundel, the early 18th century break-arch brass dial with gilt pierced spandrels and silvered Roman chapter ring, with gilt matted centred and silvered name boss to the arch, signed 'Joshua Alsop East Smith Feild', flanked by gilt dolphin mounts, the twin train, eight day, weight driven movement striking on a bell, 241cm high

Joshua Allsop's birth date is unknown but he died in 1724. He did his apprenticeship in Northhamptonshire and married Martha Watts at St. Marylebone's Church.
