A pair of early 19th century Napoleon I / Louis XVIII French 950 standard silver twin salts, Paris 1809-1819 by Jean-Pierre-Nicolas Bibron (reg. 1798)

The twin circular sections with anthemion rims raised on three caryatid legs with lion paws and female busts leading to pierced apron, all united by an open stretcher section. The central carrying handles formed as a basket of fruit leading to acanthus scrolls, with a shaped apron embossed with a hippocampus head between fins as well as rosette scrolls. Each section fitted with matched blue glass liners. Each engraved to the handle with initials. Fully marked throughout. (2)

Jean-Pierre Nicolas Bibron was a goldsmith at 3, Rue de Harlay until 1809, when he moved to 172 Rue Saint-Jacques. He then moved to 32 Rue Bourg-l'Abbé in 1818.
