A Louis XV early 18th century French silver cast snuffers tray, Paris 1719 by Martin Berthe (reg. 22nd June 1712)

In the Régence style, of shaped waisted form with a broad handle with a classical dolphin mask junction below a shaped cartouche engraved with a coat of arms. The tray section with a strapwork and flower head rim interspaced with scroll flanked scallop shell motif’s, the well of tray with two applied scroll snuffer rests. All raised on four chased scrolling feet with bellflower motifs. Marked to the underside edge with charge mark (959 standard) for Étienne de Bouges, Charles Yvon, Armand Pillavoine and Charles Cordier (reg. 1st Oct 1717), date letter C (22nd June 1719- 29th July 1720) and makers mark MB.
