Opaque pigments on ivory, the oval miniature depicting a bust portrait of a yellow-clad Indian ruler with thick moustache, wearing a green turban embellished with pearl strands and a large sarpeech (turban ornament), an inscription in English attributing the miniature to the Maharaja of Benares, most probably Prabhu Narayan Singh (1855-1931), encased within thin golden frame and brown calf leather box, 3cm x 2cm excluding the box.
