Opaque pigments heightened with gold on paper, the horizontal composition depicting Krishna seated cross-legged outside a palatial pavillion in conversation with a lady, possibly a sakhi (confidante), the style of the architecture and the orientation of the composition arranged in typical 17th-century Malwa style, set within black and white rules, and bright red borders, backed on wasli paper with black ink annotations, 17cm x 25.5cm.
