A late 19th century Anglo - Indian unmarked silver three-piece tea service, Madras circa 1890

Raj period. Comprising a teapot, a milk jug and a sugar bowl. Each of tapering cylindrical form upon a tapering collet foot. The teapot with a curved spout chased with foliate scrolls and long tailed birds, opposite a chased C scroll handle. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable finial formed as the goddess Durga, holding a spear upon her vahana a lion. The bodies with embossed decoration in the Swami style, of shaped vignettes of Hindu gods, between stylised rosettes and stylised scroll bands. (3)
