A late 19th century Anglo – Indian silver coffee pot, Cutch, Bhuj, circa 1870 by Oomersi Mawji (active 1860-90)

Raj period, of baluster form upon a ridged collet foot, the tall, curved spout opposite a C scroll handle with acanthus topped thumbpiece, inset turned ivory insulators pinned to scroll section sockets. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a fixed chased pyriform finial. The body with profusely chased decoration of foliate scrolls populated with figures and animals, including; a shotgun wielding hunter on horseback, a tiger attaching a gazelle, a boar, a lioness, an elephant and her calf, and a hunter spearing a boar. A vacant shield shape cartouche to front. Marked underneath with makers mark OM only.
