Elgar (Edward)
Autograph letter signed ('Edwd. Elgar') to Alfred Littleton, reading "I am so glad that you are better; we are resting here after Leeds on our way to Hanley. I am glad you think the title will do. West has sent on the proofs of the arrangement of some of the nos. & asks about the 'other numbers'. I conclude I am right in saying he is to arrange these. Those sent are (I think) those of which I made sketch arrangements...As to the ode, it is called simply ode, but I will give exact title of the volume when i reach home. I am truly grieved about those marching verses but I really cannot feel any of them", four pages, folding mark, 4to, Wychnor Park, Burton-on-Trent, 13 October 1907; with another autograph letter from Elgar to Littleton, thanking the recipient "for sending the Leeds cheque and for arranging that it should come. Just this moment home and find heaps to do. By the way, I've not yet seen the 2nd proof of the score of the suite", two pages, integral blanks, folding mark, 4to, n.p., 17 October 1907. (2)
