Opaque pigments highlighted with gold on paper, the vertical composition depicting the Rajput prince Manohar riding on a white steed to see the beautiful princess Madhumalati, his head surrounded by a radiating yellow halo, both the horse and the prince wearing a tall black aigrette on their foreheads, next to them several foot attendants holding a variety of ceremonial procession tools including a circular black shield, fly-whisks, an encrusted and caparisoned golden parasol, a bright red fabric parasol and a tall spear, at the top 4ll. of black ink Devanagari script, the composition encased within white, blue, yellow and red rules, mounted, glazed and framed, 36cm x 30.5cm including the frame.
