An early 18th century German silver beaker, Augsburg 1718-20 by Philipp Stenglin (master 1717, d, 1744)
of tapering cylindrical upon a cavetto foot with incised concentric lines. The body with two bands of flat chased decoration of interlocking strapwork against a textured ground. Traces of gilding to foot and upper rim. Marked underneath with town mark (Rosenberg 225), maker’s mark (Rosenberg 778) and assay scrape.
