A late 18th century Dutch silver tea caddy, Amsterdam 1793 by RK?, retailed by Willem Diemont (1767-1842)

of navette form upon a spreading oval base, with reeded rims. The hinged gently curved lid surmounted by a detachable acorn finial upon a leaf calyx. The front engraved with a British crest of an arm embowed habited erm, charged with two roundels, holding a scimitar. Fully marked underneath, DIEMONT, the lid and finial unmarked.

Length – 12.6 cm / 5 inches
