An early 20th century Austrian 900 standard silver gilt and guilloche enamel cigarette case, Vienna circa 1920 by Hillebrand and Co (active circa 1918-21)
Of compressed oval rectangular form. The hinged lid with strapwork scroll centred with an engine turned oval cartouche topped with translucent white enamel, painted with a sprig of pansies, otherwise with light blue guilloche enamel, the reserved with royal blue guilloche enamel. The base and sides all with engine turning all topped with translucent light blue enamel. Gilt interior. Marked to interior with pre-1922 assay mark, 900 and makers mark a H within a compass.
