An early 19th century Dutch silver tea caddy, Amsterdam 1805 by Ferdinand Amsen (active 1805-38), retailed by Willem Diemont (1767-1842)

Of oval form with beaded rims the hinged lid surmounted by a ball finial. Bright cut engraved bands to the edges. The front engraved with a British crest of a on a tower, an eagle preying on a serpent. Lock present, key deficient. Fully marked underneath with makers mark FA, DIEMONT and the later crowned V tax mark (1814-93), the lid unmarked apart from later tax mark.
