A LACQUERED PAPIER-MÂCHÉ LIDDED BOX WITH HUNTING SCENES
Qajar Iran, late 19th - early 20th century

Of rectangular, casket-like shape, resting on four bracket feet, with a stepped lid, the exterior polychrome-painted and lacquered, each side decorated with a lobed cartouche filled with hunting scenes with riders on their steeds chasing wild animals, the top flat panel depicting Fath 'Ali Shah receiving a diplomatic offering by a youth wearing a black kaj kolah hat, the ruler flanked by his two sons on the right and two of his advisers on the left, 10.5cm x 11cm x 17cm.
