87 of 88 original parts uncut, (lacking part 87, mss list of street inserted), 87 of 88 folding maps, original printed wrappers (lacking wrapper to part 85), paper repairs to spine of pts 70, 80-82 inclusive, map in part 72 slight worn lower edge, housed in cloth chemise and slipcase (by Zaehnsdorf), book plate of Sir Ambose Heal to chemise, oblong 8vo., 145 x 230mm. Published John Tallis, 1838-40. Rare.
Together with typed and bound Index’s of Tallis’s Street Views (2) (signed by W.F. Goss [Charles William Frederick Goss] (1938)), with correspondence from Goss to Sir Ambrose Heal [8 Als dated 1930 – 44]. “ other Als one from Sotheby’s and another from a J.G. Links. Clippings of other copies of Tallis and the original catalogue description from Thomas Thorp April 1930 where this copy was originally purchased.
