A VERY FINE QASHQAI KASHKULI RUG, SOUTH-WEST PERSIA

The indigo field with various hooked and floral motifs, animal figures and birds around diagonal rows of multicoloured hooked lozenge panles containing hooked palmettes, small rosettes and leaves. In light rust-red border of polychrome rosettes and delicate angular vine between floral meander and reciprocal stripe. Outer plain stripe, approx: 4ft.9in. x 3ft.4in.(145cm. x 102cm.) Beautifully drawn design and very good colour combination. This rug has full pile, soft and lustrous wool. Ends and selvages original. Very fine weave, approx; 9 x 8 knots per sq. cm. In general this rug is in an excellent conditon throughout. Attractive and very elegant piece.
