A PAIR OF LATE 19TH CENTURY FRENCH GILT BRONZE AND WHITE MARBLE LAMP BASES IN THE MANNER OF PIERRE GOUTHIERE (FRENCH, 1732-1813), in the Louis XVI style, the white Carrara marble ovoid bodies with pierced, lappet case integral covers surmounted by foliate nozzles, each raised on three monopedia legs cast with satyr masks and terminating in hoof feet, raised on triform bases and later drilled for electricity,

The present pair of lamps are based on perfume burners produced by Pierre Gouthiere in the late 18th century after a design by Francois-Joseph Belanger (French, 1744-1818).
