A COPELAND AND GARRETT EARTHENWARE TILE, CIRCA 1860

A COPELAND AND GARRETT EARTHENWARE TILE, CIRCA 1860, painted to simulate a Romano-British mosaic, mahogany mounted as a teapot stand with bun feet, together with Helen J. A. Miles for Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, a blue transfer printed tile titled 'September', in a cushioned oak frame, marked 'Josiah Wedgwood & Sons, Etruria to the reverse', a Minton's topographical teapot tile 'Old Edinburgh, Cardinal Beaton's House', marked 'Minton China Works, Stoke On Trent' to the reverse, a Victorian tile printed with a lady holding a basket, framed, a G. Woolliscroft & Son Ltd of Hanley celadon glazed inkstand, and a printed tile depicting a putto in a shell, mounted as a teapot stand. (6)

Notes: There is a similar Copeland & Garrett tile in the collection of the British Museum, object number 1993,0510.1.
