PROPERTY FROM AN IMPORTANT PRIVATE EUROPEAN COLLECTOR
India, 19th century

With a double-edged steel blade with thick medial ridge and tip, the gold-damascened hilt in the shape of the letter I, with flared sides, the decoration consisting of rosette sprays amidst lush interlocking vegetal sprays, on the forte a row of gilt palmettes, the pommel at the top gilt, the wooden scabbard lined with dark blue velvet, the metal fittings now lost, 36cm long including the scabbard.
