AN EXTREMELY FINE NAIN LARGE RUG, CENTRAL PERSIA

The deep indigo field with scrolling arabesques, angular palmettes and leafy vine together with perching birds and animal figures. Central double concentric floral medallion with pendants enclosing arabesque centerpiece. in light beige border of serrated palmettes, arabesques and delicate floral meandre between floral barber-pole and plain stripes, approx. 7ft.9in.x5ft.2in. (236cm. x 157cm). Very good type with very nicely drawn design more associated with Isfahan weaving. Good colour combination. This rug has full pile of very soft kurk quality wool. Salvages original. ends with origianl kilim and fringes. Touches of fraying on the fringe at one end. Extremely fine weave approx. 11 x11 knots per sq.cm. In general, this rug is in very good condition. Very attractive and elegant piece.
