PORTRAITS OF CHINESE POLITICIANS AND THINKERS, late Qing Dynasty (1644-1912), c.1880s-1901, including one albumen print of Kang Youwei (1858-1927), and three cabinet cards of Li Hongzhang (1823-1901), his nephew and adopted son Li Jinfang (1855-1934), and the marquis Zeng Jize (1823-1890), photographers include L. F. Fisle (xx), John Thomson (1837-1921), and Alexander Bassano (1829-1913), completed with two handwritten notes in ink, one in English by J. S. Rowland (xx), 1886 and one in Chinese written by Zeng Jie. Albumen print, image size, 260 x 200mm, with pencil annotations verso, cabinet cards (3), image size, approx. 155 x 105mm, 130 x 195mm, card size, 166 x 110mm, one examples dated and titled in ink card verso, two with photographer name typed card verso, one signed in English and Chinese by Zeng Jize recto, two with photographer's name in card lower margin and in annotations.
