A LIVERPOOL DELFTWARE PUZZLE JUG, circa 1760, of globular form with a cylindrical neck pierced with flowerheads and heart shaped petals, with a loop handle and a tubular rim with three short nozzles, typically painted in blue with loops and dashes, the lower section inscribed with a verse, 'Here Gentlemen Come try yr Skill / Ile Le a wager if you will / That you dont Drink this Liqr all / Without you Spill or lett some fall', flanked by two leafy sprays, 17cm high
