A FINE ANTIQUE HERIZ CARPET, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The shaded rust field with anular floral and leafy vine around large hooked and stepped indigo medallion with palmette pendants containing serrated palmettes, hooked leaves and angular vine enclosing hooked rust ivory and indigo double floral centerpiece. Wide ivory palmette and angular floral vine spandrels. In broad indigo border multicoloured large turtle-plmettes, floral and leafy vine between rust and camel-beige floral vine stripes. Outer reciprocal and plain stripes, approx: 11ft.8in. x 8ft.(354cm. x 244cm.) Very good type and very niclely drawn design, bold appearance. This carpet has localized wear to the pile showing warps in places. Ends with short fringes. Selvages original, fraying on wool cord in places. In general this carpet is in good usable condition. Classic for this type. Attractive and very good furnishing piece.
