An early 20th century German silver, guilloche enamel and quartz box, probably Pforzheim circa 1920
Of hexagonal form with pull off lid, the lid set with a large circular cut yellow-brown quartz, edged with marcasite. The sided with panels of engine turned decoration topped with translucent blue guilloche enamel alternating between die-rolled strips of flower rosettes. The underside with engine turned decoration. Gilt interior. Unmarked.

By repute this box was initially sold with a letter to benefit St Peter’s Church Funf Norbiton, by Here Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent, the letter signed by her private secretary from Marlborough house, 11th January 1950.
