AN ENGLISH DELFT SYRUP OR WET DRUG JAR, early 18th Century, probably Lambeth, of ovoid form with a spout to the back, raised on a spreading foot, painted in blue with a label inscribed 'OXYM:SIMP:' within a cartouche surmounted by a basket of flowers flanked by two birds, 18cm high FOOTNOTES: The name on the front of this jar refers to Syrup of Oxymel, which was a popular traditional cough medicine made with wine vinegar and honey.
