An early 19th century Swiss gold snuffbox, Geneva circa 1820 by André Magnin
Of rectangular form, with bulging polished sides, the lid and base centred by rectangular panels of fine diagonal peaked engine-turning, within fluted borders and broad matted frames chased with trailing foliage and foliate rosettes. The hinged lid raised by wavy polished gold thumbpiece, the inside of the lid later engraved with monogram 'LM'. Marked to inside of lid with makers mark AM in a lozenge incuse twice.
