AN ANTIQUE KHOY TABRIZ RUG, NORTH-WEST PERSIA

The deep indigo field with overall multicoloured open hearti design of flowerheads, serrarted leaves and angular floral vine. In rust-red border of stylised turtle-palmettes, hooked leaves and angular floral vine between sandy-beige rosette and hooked leaf stripes. Outer ribbon and barber-pole stripes, approx: 190cm. x 140cm. Very good example for this type, seldom found in rug size. Colours are well balanced with nicely drawn design. This rug has slight wear to the top pile, down to knot collar in few places, barley noticeable. Ends with short fringes, slightly fraying. Selvages rebound with touches of wear on cord edges. In general this rug is in good usable condition. Very good furnishing piece.

Estimated at £400 - £600
