A mid-20^th century American 14 carat gold cigarette case, New York circa 1950, signed Van Cleef and Arpels

Of rectangular form with a hinged lid raised by a simple thumbpiece with a cabochon cut emerald. Ribbed decoration all over. The interior engraved “Veronica with love Lucien”. Engraved to the front bezel VAN CLEFF & ARPELS N.Y. 14938 14K. Held in original calf leather carry case, gilt tooled to the interior VAN CLEEF & ARPELS INC, NEW YORK PALM BEACH.
